The search for Britain’s most exciting artists has been launched by The Harley Gallery on the Welbeck estate in Sherwood Forest.
Prints and paintings from artist and designer Jill Ray, including large scale works that have not been seen at The Harley Gallery before, will go on display from 28 July in a new exhibition called ‘Bright Woods, Dark Peaks’.
A different hands on activity is on offer every Wednesday from 25 July onwards throughout the school summer holidays at the gallery located on the historic Welbeck Estate, near Worksop. Led by a trained education professional, the one hour workshops are inspired by the art of The Harley Gallery and the treasures of The Portland Collection as well as the great outdoors.
Using silver birch gathered from around the vast Welbeck estate in Sherwood Forest and willow from Somerset, artist Laura Ellen Bacon is creating a huge, new, ‘human-scale’ sculpture to twine around the ground floor at The Harley Gallery, 28 July – 7 October 2018.
Artist Clare Twomey has given a modern twist to old technology to unite past, present and future in her new exhibition ‘Half in shadow: Half in light’ which runs at The Harley Gallery on the Welbeck Estate from 24 March until 17 June.
