Runners and Riders Talk

The internationally respected horse trainer and father of journalist and BBC presenter Clare Balding will speak about how he came to be a Racehorse Trainer at Kingsclere and life as a trainer, including amusing stories about some of his more well known owners such as H.M. The Queen and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. This will be followed by a 12 minute Film about Mill Reef and Paul Mellon.
Ian Balding was a Rugby Blue at Cambridge University and one of the leading amateur riders of his day. He started training at Kingsclere in 1964 and became the Leading Trainer in the U.K. in 1971 when Mill Reef won the Derby and the Prix de L`Arc de Triomphe.
