Folk Art and Fairy Tales
12 January - 9 March 2008
Featuring ten artist-makers whose work is connected by a shared interest in the world of folk lore, fairy tales, myth and legend.
Some artists reference well-known tales, authors or literary characters, such as
Jayne Lennard in her princess's bedstead: others incorporate the written word, as with
Cathy Miles in her witty bird reliefs, and Carys Anne Hughes in her tales from the nursery. The quirky, charming creatures of Lucy Casson inhabit their own worlds of make believe, while Rachael Howard's textile hangings use image, text and object to tell stories of the everyday.
This exhibition is full of colour, humour, vitality and the world of the make believe.
Exhibitors include: Julie Arkell, Su Blackwell Samantha Bryan Lucy Casson Jennifer Collier, Lowri Davies Rachael Howard, Carys Anne Hughes,
Jayne Lennard and Cathy Miles
