Subscribe to our newsletter The Bodging Project Before, During, After Main Auditorium & Gallery 1 27 March - 2 June Discover what happens when 10 top furniture designers take to the woods. The Bodging Project is an exhibition of exploratory furniture design, from renowned designers who have taken part in woodland workshops to challenge their established practice and to ‘reconnect head with hand’, as described by Chris Eckersley, award-winning furniture designer and Bodging Project founder. Read Chris's explanation of the word 'bodging'. Used to designing in factories; with computers, power tools and drawing boards, 10 designers were taken to a workshop in the woods and introduced to ‘Bodging’, or traditional green wood chair making. The experiment took the designers right back to basics as they turned, cut and scraped raw wood into beautiful furniture designs. This exhibition shows work designed from the factory, to the forest, and back again. Visit to see exhibits that were shown in Milan at the Salone del Mobile 2010 and London Design Festival 2012, including the acclaimed ‘Love Seat’ by Gareth Neal. Also on show will be work made by The Lloyd Loom Elves, a project instigated by designer William Warren. Creeping into the Lloyd Loom factory in Spalding, Lincolnshire one weekend, a group of designers were able to play with Lloyd Loom’s iconic twisted paper materials, creating new exciting designs and trying different, unusual techniques.
