Join us in The Harley Pottery Studio to make your own class nativity set. Working with Lynne Staniland our Pottery Studio Manager children will paint a nativity figure.
Children will discover how the nativity figures are made in moulds and how these are then fired in the kiln ready for painting. Hand painting of ceramics has been around for many years and is a very skilful process. The workshop will explore different ideas of how the children can paint their figures. This may be using patterns or modern/traditional styles.
The children will:
- Explore the Pottery Studio and learn about how the nativity figures are cast and fired ready to paint.
- Learn more about different ways to decorate the figures with pattern etc.
- Design how they will paint the figure.
- Paint a three dimensional nativity figure using specialist paints.
The figures will be fired and available for collection from The Harley Gallery Reception. If you would like an alternative to a nativity set we can offer Christmas decorations as a replacement.
