A tour of the ‘Brick by Brick‘ exhibition will encourage children to look more closely using a variety of activity sheets. These will give the children clues about how to look at the work and how to develop their own tastes and judgements. The sheets will focus on aesthetic awareness in relation to colour, texture, pattern, shape and structure.
After a tour of the exhibition, a practical session will follow, taking place in our Education Room.
What could be more exciting and creative than building with lots and lots of LEGO® bricks and bringing topics to life through fun? Taking inspiration from the exhibition the children will work with specialist builder Stephen from Creative Builders in a LEGO® building workshop creating two imaginary worlds.
- Discuss ideas from the exhibition, what type of things could they build out of LEGO® taking inspiration from the artworks they have seen.
- Work in teams to create a plan for the worlds the children would like to create. For example sculptures, stylised houses, eco-friendly buildings, play areas etc. The possibilities are endless.
- Learn how to be a good builder.
- Build the worlds in teams.
The workshop will encourage children to observe, work as a team, problem solve and use their imaginations. These highly engaging and hands-on workshops allow primary aged pupils the opportunity to explore their creative minds and build amazing worlds.
This workshop is suitable for Key Stage 1 & 2 children. We welcome visits from school staff prior to the workshop and the Education and Engagement Manager would be happy to give you a tour of the exhibition and education facilities. Sessions are suitable for a maximum of 30 children, plus teaching staff.
The Education & Engagement Manager will welcome your party at the Gallery doors when you arrive and take you on a tour of the exhibition before being guided up to our Education Room for the workshop.
