It’s really disappointing to have to cancel this year as it would have been the 20th anniversary of the very first Winter craft fair and Open Studios here. It has become hugely popular over the years and is a firm date in the calendar for many of our regular visitors and artists.

We are now seeing whether there are ways of running the event digitally. The last three months of lockdown have shown all of us how we can work with new technologies to connect with one another and we will be in touch about this soon.” Lisa Gee, Director, July 2020.

The Welbeck Winter Weekend is well known for celebrating all things handmade. Visitors are given the chance to wander around stall upon stall of handcrafted pieces from ceramics and jewellery to one-off artworks. In addition, artists based within The Harley Studios on the estate thrown open their doors so that visitors can see their workspaces.

Over the years the event has expanded to bring together the finest food producers, selected by the award-winning Welbeck Farm Shop from across the region. In 2019, the free event included a special marquee dedicated to the makers and producers based in the historic Welbeck estate. These included Welbeck Abbey Brewery, Welbeck Bakehouse, Welbeck Dairy, Stichelton Cheese and The School of Artisan Food.
