Kyra Cane is a successful potter who has also been a lecturer in ceramics and drawing since 1986.
She was course leader of Harrow Ceramics at the University of Westminster from 2000 to 2009 and is an experienced external examiner.
Kyra creates vessels inspired by her observations of landscapes and weather patterns.
They range from large vigorously thrown pieces to small intimate pots, decorated with a series of marks and subtle textures. Kyra makes her work in series and is constantly engaged by subtle variations between each form.
She draws extensively and is the author of the Bloomsbury book “Making and Drawing”. Kyra curated an exhibition of the same name at The Harley Gallery in 2013.
While Kyra Cane has shown work at prestigious locations worldwide, she is happiest with her sketchbook on a wind-swept clifftop or covered with clay in her studio at Welbeck.
