Our teacher trained Education and Engagement Manager plans all of our activities. We aim to inspire young minds to be creative and to use hand skills to create their own artwork.

Things to do

Free activities for families are available every day in The Harley Gallery and The Portland Collection.

Go upstairs in The Harley Gallery to find free family activities in the Creative Space. Activities vary with each exhibition – pick up an Eye Spy worksheet or have a go at one of our self-guided making activities.

Over in The Portland Collection, families can take the free ‘Portland Explorer’ trail to find hidden treasures around the gallery.

Bring your children along to look, draw and discover and take part in our events for children and families. We offer a range of activities and sessions for children from half term activities, pottery painting, and clay days to creative art clubs, which cost from £2.50.

Visit our family events page to find out more.

Additionally, there are a number of walks through the local countryside, see our walking routes here.

Top tip – pop next door to Dukeries Garden Centre for their pet shop and aquatics centre!

Baby changing facilities can be found in The Portland Collection and The Harley Café. Buggies are welcome in the galleries, and there is a lift providing access to the upper gallery spaces.

Highchairs are available in The Harley Café.

If you’re enjoying our award-winning shopping, look out for our range of pocket money souvenirs and affordable toys and creative kits for children.

We are proud to be a breast feeding friendly venue.
